Navigating Airport Security
Being prepared for security checks saves time and reduces stress.
Liquids Rule (3-1-1 Rule)
- Liquids, gels, and aerosols must be in containers of 100ml (3.4oz) or less.
- All containers must fit in one transparent, resealable 1-litre (1-quart) bag.
- One bag per passenger.
Exemptions
- Baby formula, breast milk, and baby food
- Prescription medications (with prescription label)
- Items purchased after the security checkpoint
Electronics at Security
Remove laptops and tablets larger than a mobile phone from your bag and place them in a separate tray.
Prohibited Items in Hand Luggage
- Sharp objects (scissors over 6cm, knives, razors)
- Firearms and replica weapons
- Flammable items
Tips for Faster Security
- Wear slip-on shoes and minimal metal accessories.
- Pre-pack your liquids bag for easy access.
- Enrol in TSA PreCheck or Global Entry for expedited screening.
